About The Cellars at River's Edge

Cozy outdoor seating area at a rustic house during golden hour.

Our Story

The Cellars at River's Edge has a rich and diverse history that spans more than a century.

In 1921, the land that is now home to The Cellars at River's Edge was an active dairy farm. The original farmhouse, much smaller than it is today, was built for the dairy farmer and his family. During the restoration, many of the home’s original features were carefully preserved. Beneath the house, the original dirt-floor root cellar still exists and is believed to have been used for storing vegetables and other perishables.

Inside the home, you’ll notice the exposed wooden beams in the ceiling of what is now the living room, along with the tongue-and-groove flooring from the room above. The columns that once framed the front entrance have also been preserved, as have the original wooden banister and railing, allowing guests to experience a piece of the

home’s early history.

The white building marked with the letter “B” was the original milking barn. Its rough-hewn beams, six-foot ceilings, and hay loft once supported the daily operations of the dairy farm. A larger barn also stood on the property but unfortunately burned to the ground more than 16 years ago. The original manger where the farmer fed his cows still remains and can be found along the north edge of what is now the parking lot.

In the 1980s, an addition was built onto the home when it was converted into a bed and breakfast. Guests could reserve one of four upstairs bedrooms, each with a unique layout. A distinctive feature of the inn was the upstairs “water closets,” where each bedroom included a private toilet and corner shower tucked into a closet while the sink remained in the bedroom itself. Just east of the three-car garage, a small cottage housed a hot tub for guests to enjoy during their stay.

After the bed and breakfast closed, the cottage found a new purpose as a poodle grooming salon.

The property later sat vacant for several years before Delbert and Terry Elwood purchased it in 2010 as their family home. Over the next 15 years, they created countless lasting memories while lovingly caring for the property. Delbert enjoyed maintaining the grounds and pursuing many hobbies, including planting the grove of bamboo that still grows on the property today, originally intended for furniture making. Terry embraced her passion for creativity through card making, jewelry, gardening, and countless other crafts.

In 2025, Scott, Denise, Melody, and Jeremie were blessed with the opportunity to purchase the property from Delbert and Terry and begin its next chapter. Their vision was to preserve its remarkable history while transforming it into The Cellars at River’s Edge. After a year of extensive demolition, restoration, and remodeling, they proudly

opened their doors to the Treasure Valley community, creating a place where friends, family, and neighbors can gather to enjoy exceptional wine, meaningful conversations, and new memories in a setting rich with history.
